The short answer
A random Pokémon generator chooses a species or team and runs entirely as a browser tool. A Pokémon randomizer usually changes the data or encounter rules inside a Pokémon game or ROM. They can both create surprise, but they do not do the same job.
What a random Pokémon generator does
A generator starts with a Pokémon pool, applies filters, and selects from the remaining species. On RandomPokemon.xyz you can choose Generations 1–9, regions, types, evolution stage, Legendary and Mythical eligibility, forms, and team size.
It does not alter a game. You can use the result as a drawing prompt, draft pick, challenge roster, tabletop reference, or a self-imposed rule for a playthrough. A seed also lets another person reproduce the same roll.
What a game or ROM randomizer does
A game randomizer changes data used during play. Depending on the software and settings, it may replace wild encounters, trainer teams, starters, abilities, moves, items, or evolutions. That process normally requires a compatible game file and separate software.
